Australian national team announces eToro Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup dates for 2023. The Wallabies are eager to announce their 2023 eToro Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup matchups because they will provide the groundwork for their Rugby World Cup preparations, which get under way in France in September.
The Wallabies will begin their campaign on July 8 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria against the current World Champions South Africa in a condensed version of the competition because of the sport’s championship event.
Seven days later, on July 15, the team will leave the Highveld and fly back to Australia to play Argentina at CommBank Stadium in Sydney, marking their first home match of the year.
The Bledisloe Cup matches are then scheduled to be played back-to-back, starting on Saturday, July 29, when the Wallabies face the All Blacks at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The legendary location has only ever played host to three Test matches, the most recent being in 2007 when the Wallabies overcame New Zealand 20-15 in front of around 80,000 fans.
In an effort to win the Bledisloe Cup for the first time since 2002, the team will then cross the ditch and take the field at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin for the rematch on August 5.
The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events organization Destination NSW, is pleased to support the Australia vs. Argentina eToro Rugby Championship game on Saturday, July 15 in Sydney.
“Victoria is the nation’s capital of major events, and the MCG will be crowded with supporters watching the Wallabies and the All Blacks battle it out for the Bledisloe Cup,” said Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport, and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos.
“We want to invite rugby supporters from over the nation and New Zealand to come to Melbourne, see the match live, and take advantage of everything our state has to offer.”
